If you have pre-existing medical conditions
The number of people who have one or more pre-existing medical conditions that should be included in a travel insurance policy is probably greater than most people imagine.
However, many think that because they might have what they regard as a ‘minor’ condition that’s stable and well controlled, like blood pressure or cholesterol, for example, this doesn’t need to be declared to an insurer.
However, experience has shown that medical conditions can often have a knock-on effect and sometimes it can be difficult to know if a medical claim is directly or even indirectly related to a pre-existing medical condition.
This can be a difficult question to answer and one that any insurer will take time to look into, which can mean, of course, a delay in the settlement of a claim or even a decline to meet it.
That’s why it’s vitally important to declare all pre-existing medical conditions so that if you do need to make a claim, you can be sure that as long as your condition was accepted for cover by the insurer, there won’t be a problem.
